Call for the IV edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize

The Loewe Foundation announces the fourth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, an international award to celebrate excellence in the field of artistic crafts.

In 2016, the Loewe Foundation launched the first edition of the award with the aim of recognizing artisans with unique talent, whose artistic vision and innovative spirit set new standards for the future of contemporary craftsmanship.

A panel of experts made up of artists, craftsmen, essayists, curators and designers will evaluate all the proposals received to make a selection of 30. Their choice will be based on a series of criteria: originality, vision and artistic merit, execution, material excellence, value innovative and personal brand. The shortlisted works will make up an exhibition to be shown in Paris in the spring of 2020, and it is there that the award jury will select the winning piece. The prize for the winning work is 50,000 euros.

All applications must meet the following requirements:

  • register within one of the areas of applied arts, such as ceramics, bookbinding, enamel, jewelry, lacquer, metal, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, paper, wood, etc.
  • be an original work, handcrafted or semi-handcrafted
  • have been created in the last five years
  • being unique
  • not have been previously awarded
  • demonstrate artistic intent.

The deadline for submitting applications for the LOEWE Craft Prize 2020 ends on October 30, 2019.
