74 artisans participate in the XXXV Christmas Craft Show

Presentation of the XXXV Christmas Craft Show
The Christmas Craft Show, organized by the Ministry of Business, Industry and Spokesperson and which opens its doors next Thursday, December 5 until January 5, has in this XXXV edition with 74 artisans who will show their products on the Paseo Alfonso X El Sabio de Murcia, together with three NGOs and an institutional space to promote and disseminate regional crafts.
The general director of Commerce, Consumption and Crafts, Carolina Espinosa, presented the exhibition today and explained that "it contributes to reactivating the establishments in the commercial area of the center of Murcia, as well as being a first-class tourist attraction that makes it easier for artisans and artisan companies the sale of their products during the Christmas season”.
The Fair will feature artisans from the municipalities of Murcia, Abarán, Águilas, Alhama de Murcia, Bullas, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cartagena, Ceutí, Jumilla, Lorca, Mazarrón, Molina de Segura, Moratalla, Mula, Murcia, Puerto Lumbreras, The Torres de Cotillas, Totana and Yecla, to which are added others from Alicante, Hellín and Vigo, plus an NGO from Belarus.

The booths will remain open during the Christmas period, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They will only be closed all day on December 25 and January 1, as well as the afternoons of December 24 and 31.
Workshops, tastings and exhibitions
The Christmas Craft Show has scheduled a series of parallel activities with live demonstrations of glass carving, fire enamel on metal, and painted natural silk, among others, as well as craft workshops for children and adults, and tastings of typical products regional products such as 'Murciatone' or the yemas de Caravaca de la Cruz, artisan cheeses, wines and Christmas sweets.
Carolina Espinosa stressed that it is a "cultural and gastronomic offer that will make the Paseo de Alfonso X el Sabio a space for everyone and will make it one of the most attractive places for lovers of handicrafts and for shopping for Christmas gifts and sweets.
There will be discount prizes in a 'Scratchcard' to consume in the regional craft centers and in the booths of the Sample itself, a Santa Claus mailbox and SS.MM. the Three Wise Men for the children to deliver their letters, and an exhibition of the work done by the students of the cycle of Artistic Jewelry of the School of Art.
This edition has its supportive side and will collaborate with those affected by DANA. The twelfth edition of the National Crafts Awards has received 90 nominations that will compete for the highest award in the 4 categories of the contest. After studying each of the proposals, the selection committee made up of experts from the craft sector and representatives of the autonomous communities and the ministry itself has selected the 16 projects that become finalists of the contest. The initiatives presented cover various sectors, with special representation of ceramics, fur and leather, wood and jewelery and bijouterie. Murcia has a representative who will compete for one of the awards: Joaquín Plana Belmonte aspires to the Entrepreneurship Award for his Tictactoys brand, under which he creates educational toys made with natural raw materials.

The importance of crafts does not lie only in its incalculable cultural and artistic value. It is also a consolidated sector of the Spanish economy, which represents around 2.4% of industrial GDP and 0.4% of total GDP, according to the study 'Situation of crafts in Spain. Report on competitiveness and main economic variables'. This report, from the School of Industrial Organization (EOI) and its craft promotion area, Fundesarte, also concludes that the competitiveness of the Spanish craft sector has increased despite the drop in the number of companies and jobs caused by the crisis.

PRESENTATION OF THE HANDICRAFTS FAIR OF THE REGION OF MURCIA

Feramur is held from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 with the participation of about 120 stands from various countries
Artisans of clay, wood, textiles, metal, leather, glass, forging, natural cosmetics and food will be present at the thirty-sixth edition of the Regional Craft Fair (Feramur), which is hosted by the Lorca Fair Institution (Ifelor) and will feature with about 120 stands distributed in 4,000 square meters of exhibition.
The stands will be occupied by exhibitors from different parts of the Region of Murcia, from all over the country (Almería, Albacete, Granada, Seville, Madrid, Córdoba, Gerona, Salamanca, Toledo, Valencia, Ciudad Real and Cantabria) and from the rest in the world, such as India, Morocco, Turkey and Egypt.
The Minister of Business, Industry and Spokesperson, Ana Martínez Vidal, presented, together with the Deputy Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Morales, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca, Juan Francisco Gómez, the program of the fair, in which the most important craft of the Mediterranean arch.
Martínez Vidal announced some of the demonstrations that will take place during the fair, such as the production of nativity scenes, the manufacture of bath bombs with natural products, leather embossing, glass engraving and carving, and mosaic production. , among others.

Activity program
From Thursday the 26th to Sunday the 29th of September there will be demonstrations of bobbin lace by the artisans of Bolillo de Lorca; manufacture of footwear by Calzados Cristina; embossed leather by Ángel Molina; manufacture of bath bombs with natural products by Amalur Nature; candle workshop by Pecoreados Artesanía; in addition to pottery and painting on ceramics.
Likewise, there will be demonstrations at stands such as those of Tabil Orfebrería, of modeled glass by 'Pineda de Luelmo', engraving and carving of glass by 'Artesanía Reina' and a parade of headdresses and accessories organized by 'Azabache' 'Nataly Artesanía' . In addition, there will be tastings of artisan products of honey, jam, cheese, craft beer, sausages, preserves and sweets.
The thirty-sixth edition of Feramur has a series of contests and raffles for both exhibitors and visitors, among which are, on Saturday 28, the VI edition of the Pottery Contest (Artelor), which aims to show the traditional art of magical trade that is pottery and thus contribute to its conservation, motivating new generations and awakening their interest in this trade.
During the celebration, a lot of handicrafts will be raffled daily among the attending public, made up of pieces donated by the artisans, for which it will only be necessary to fill in the personal data at the entrance of the fair. One more edition they will raffle invitations to visit Feramur on social networks.
Lastly, the fair will have a day dedicated to the elderly, who can always access it free of charge with a pensioner's card. Call for the IV edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize
The Loewe Foundation announces the fourth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, an international award to celebrate excellence in the field of artistic crafts.
In 2016, the Loewe Foundation launched the first edition of the award with the aim of recognizing artisans with unique talent, whose artistic vision and innovative spirit set new standards for the future of contemporary craftsmanship.
A panel of experts made up of artists, craftsmen, essayists, curators and designers will evaluate all the proposals received to make a selection of 30. Their choice will be based on a series of criteria: originality, vision and artistic merit, execution, material excellence, value innovative and personal brand. The shortlisted works will make up an exhibition to be shown in Paris in the spring of 2020, and it is there that the award jury will select the winning piece. The prize for the winning work is 50,000 euros.
All applications must meet the following requirements:
- register within one of the areas of applied arts, such as ceramics, bookbinding, enamel, jewelry, lacquer, metal, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, paper, wood, etc.
- be an original work, handcrafted or semi-handcrafted
- have been created in the last five years
- being unique
- not have been previously awarded

Grants for Artisan Associations 2018.

The eligible activities will be the following:

– Measure C.4.5. of LIMA, "Regional Craft Shows", so that regional craft shows are organized and carried out in the Region of Murcia that represent an increase in the marketing of the craft sector.
– Measure D.1.3., D.1.4. and D.1.5. of LIMA, "Promote the Regional Craft Centers, Artisan Houses and the like", with events and exhibitions that communicate the new crafts to society.
– The eligible action projects for the Promotion of Employment in Crafts are: a) Measure E.1.2. of the LIMA "Professional courses for master craftsmen", to organize and carry out technical courses on craft trades aimed at young people and students to promote employment in crafts, carried out by Master Craftsmen who train in craft trade techniques, carried out in Specialized Craft Centers in the Region of Murcia that have equipment, tools and means to provide training.
The following concepts will not be considered eligible:
a) Raffles, raffles and the like.
b) Financial expenses incurred as a result of the investment.

d) Expenses for the acquisition or lease of land or premises.

Catalog of the Cartagena Glass Museum
The Association of Artisan Glassmakers Santa Lucía, registered in the Artisan Registry of Murcia, wants to publicize and make available to everyone the new glass recovery project in its various branches and trades as well as the pieces that are in the glass museum . A rich and abundant world that is waiting to be rediscovered, and that will give a new vision of one of the oldest trades in history.
On the first floor, the center houses an exhibition of more than 200 pieces, from the old Santa Lucía glass factory, dating from 1834, where you can take a tour of the history of glass and the possibilities it offers.
In the ovens warehouse, located on the ground floor, the visitor can see a craftsman blowing glass and different glass techniques (carving and engraving, torch), as well as the tools, tools and machines traditionally used by glassmakers.
