This makes them an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic wax or paraffin candles. Beeswax has a higher melting point than paraffin, which means beeswax candles have greater heat resistance and can burn longer without melting or dripping. This ensures longer life and long-lasting enjoyment. In short, beeswax candles are a true artisanal gem that combines beauty, fragrance and quality.

The Lorca Fair Institution will host the 39th edition of Feramur from September 21 to 24, which will feature workshops, tastings and parades

The Fair Institution of Lorca, Ifelor, will host from September 21 to 24 the 39th edition of the Official Crafts Fair of the Region of Murcia-Feramur 2023, where a hundred artisans from all over Spain will meet to disseminate the quality of craftsmanship and news from the sector.

The fair, in addition to the commercial space and direct sale of artisan products, will have areas for demonstrations and workshops, as well as parades and tastings, as highlighted today by the general director of Consumption and Crafts, Sonia Moreno, in the presentation of the program of this edition, an event in which the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and representatives of Feramur were also present.

This artisan meeting will feature the participation of exhibitors from mainly the Region of Murcia and also from the rest of Spain, such as Alicante, Lugo, Almería, Cáceres, Cantabria, Ciudad Real, Gerona, Granada, Málaga, Palencia, Salamanca and Seville.

Among the main craft activities of Feramur 2023 are pottery, ceramics, embroidery, miniatures, costume jewelry and natural cosmetics. In addition, there will be food artisans, such as beekeepers, brewers, pork butchers, butchers, confectioners, canners, pastry chefs, cheese makers and winemakers.

The program has a wide range of activities aimed at the general public and the artisans themselves. Among them, the presentation of the II Design+Craft+Innovation Conference stands out, which will take place in Murcia on September 28, as well as a fashion show with designs by students from the IES Bartolomé Pérez Casas, and another of popular clothing.

During the four days of the fair, various live demonstrations will be held continuously, such as bobbin lace, Roman mosaic making, glass carving and engraving, and candle making. Likewise, the visitor will be able to participate in a daily raffle for a batch of artisan products.

In this environment, it is also planned to create a mural in which Feramur attendees will be able to participate and which will be in charge of the ceramist Martín Lario and the illustrator Eloy González.

On the other hand, regional artisans have the possibility of learning about the business opportunities offered by the French market through the technicians of the International Promotion Office of the Development Institute (Info). Another training action that will be carried out during the fair is to publicize the tools that make it possible to promote and sell the artisan product through the social network Instagram.

The fair hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Artisans and designers from Spain will meet at the Regional Craft Center of Murcia

At the end of September they will participate in the second day 'Craft+Design+Innovation', which seeks to promote the artisan product through the design process

The Regional Crafts Center of Murcia will host the second day 'Craft+Design+Innovation' on September 28, an event that aims to promote artisanal products through the design process together with artisanal production.

During the day, organized by the General Directorate of Consumer Affairs and Crafts, in collaboration with the Association of Designers and Advertising Communication Professionals of the Region of Murcia, a selection of artisans will carry out live demonstrations of different crafts, such as pottery. ceramist, leatherworker, musical instrument maker or wood carver, among others, which will make it possible to publicize the diversity and richness of the regional craft sector.

Likewise, as was done in the last edition, along with the presentations and debates, there will be the exhibition 'Crafts and design of ten', in which 10 regional artisans will present a piece marketed with support and with added value of the design, with a brief description of its creation, production and commercialization process.

The day seeks to create a space for the interaction of professionals, "since the artisan dominates the technique and materials, and the designers dominate the conceptualization of the products", a combination that, in the opinion of the general director of Consumption and Crafts, Sonia Moreno, “it must serve so that both sectors gain in innovation and competitiveness.”

'Craft+Design+Innovation' foresees the participation, among others, of Idoia Cuesta, dedicated to contemporary basketry. This Basque artisan designs decoration products for the main firms in Spain and collaborates with the most famous architects and interior designers in the country.

The Catalans '40 feathers', specialists in designer glass and experimentation with this material, will also present their experience. The day will consist of three parts. The first dedicated to knowledge of the artisan trades of the Region of Murcia, which will be exhibited on site; the second, to the talks and exhibition of experiences of artisans and designers, regional and national; and the third will consist of 'networking', with the aim of establishing contacts between managers, artisans and designers.

Moreno highlighted that "we are facing a new craft, which grows in disciplines and different types of professionals, which provides a reflective medium on innovation and sustainability applied to artisanal creation."

More than 560 schoolchildren participate in the 18th edition of 'Consumópolis' and learn the importance of responsible use of the Internet

The Murcia Regional Crafts Center hosts the awards ceremony for the winners of the regional phase of the responsible consumption school contest

More than 560 schoolchildren and 110 teachers from the Region of Murcia have participated in the regional phase of the 18th edition of 'Consumópolis', the school contest for responsible consumption, which this year has been held under the slogan 'On the Internet, do you do you believe everything you see?' to educate young people about the importance of responsible use of the Internet.

Thus, this edition has focused on the use that young people make of the Internet and the repercussions that their actions may have on the indiscriminate and uncontrolled use of the Internet. The first part of the contest, as in previous editions, has consisted of an online tour of the city of Consumópolis, where the participants have been solving various educational and playful tests.

The second part has consisted of the design, preparation and presentation of a work on responsible consumption, which has materialized in a video on the responsible use of the Internet in the school, family and social environment.

Schools from Jumilla, Cartagena, Alcantarilla, Abarán, Archena, Murcia, Lorca, Molina de Segura, Alhama de Murcia and Santomera have participated in this edition. Specifically, 113 teams have entered the contest: 31 teams from fifth and sixth grades of Primary (155 students); 47 teams of first and second ESO (235 students); and 35 teams of third and fourth ESO (175 students).

The Murcia Regional Crafts Center hosted this morning the award ceremony for the winners of the 18th edition of 'Consumópolis', in which the General Director of Consumer Affairs and Crafts, Sonia Moreno, participated.

The winners in the regional phase, according to their category, have been the teams 'Los Salchichas', from the Campoamor de Alcantarilla school (fifth and sixth grade); 'Artattackers', from the IES Floridablanca in Murcia (first and second ESO); and 'Los Plumbers', from the IES José Luis Martínez Palomo de Alquerías (Murcia) (third and fourth ESO).

The Consumópolis contest is carried out in collaboration with all the autonomous communities and the General Directorate of Consumption of the Ministry of Consumption. Through this contest it is intended to create responsible consumption habits and solidarity with the environment, while students learn and have fun.

The objective is to make young schoolchildren aware of the importance of responsible consumption and combining it with well-being and quality of life, both for them and for the people around them.

The winning contestants of this first regional phase opt for the national phase, in which they will compete with the winners of the rest of the autonomous communities.
