event details

The traveling exhibition in the Craft Centers of the Region of Murcia called “Ceramicómic” arises from the fusion of the artisanal technique developed by the “El Poveo” Pottery and by the artist Vicente Tiburcio, obtaining new products resulting from the union of art and the craftsmanship.

In it they present a series of sculptures and decorative plates inspired by the comics created by Vicente Tiburcio, this first sample of unique works full of color.

“El Poveo” Pottery is an artisan workshop with a family tradition, which has been producing its products uninterruptedly since the beginning of the century. At the head of the workshop are Mercedes and Antonio “El Poveo”, continuing the 4th generation of potters. Its pieces keep very old forms and decorations alive. Their ceramics are decorative and totally utilitarian on a daily basis due to their excellent fired glaze finish. Currently, it is the only workshop in production and fully active located on Rambla de La Santa, a historic enclave of all the old potteries in the city of Totana.

Vicente Tiburcio Caballero, a native of Cartagena, has a degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Valencia, a great artist recognized internationally as a creator of comics among other virtues such as writer, teacher, graphic designer, publicist, among others. He has also attended numerous international fairs and exhibitions.

This traveling exhibition was in the months of February and March at the Regional Crafts Center of Cartagena, in April and May at the Regional Crafts Center of Murcia and will end in June and July at the Regional Crafts Center of Lorca.
