During the month of January the Craft Centers of the Region of Murcia host a group exhibition of textile items.

In this selection of products, visitors will be able to purchase artisan jarapas from the district of Coy in Lorca, a national benchmark for this trade. Scarves and kimonos made by the designer and craftsman Alfredo Caral. Shoes and Footwear from Calzados Cristina. Wool sweaters made by Adolfo Ruíz, one of the few who continue to make these garments with a manual knitting machine.

The jarapa is native to the region of Lorca and is a purely artisanal product, which is made entirely from the recycling of materials from the textile industry, cotton being the most used fiber, sometimes reaching almost 100 percent of its content. composition. In addition, the manufacturing method dates back to the 12th century and has been preserved with hardly any modifications. In this way, a unique product with great added value is achieved.

Alfredo Caral founded his own haute couture workshop in the 1970s and presented his first collection, with which he achieved great success among the audience and specialists in the sector. Fashion gave her the satisfaction of being able to create and develop her own designs, turning her creations into a style benchmark. On this occasion, she has exhibited different models of kimonos and scarves at the Murcia Regional Craft Center and has other products at the Center Regional Crafts of Cartagena.

Calzados Cristina is a company dedicated to the manufacture of its own footwear patented by the EEC, with totally handmade production, located in Alhama de Murcia, mainly manufacturing comfortable and sports shoes, slippers and wedges. All of their products can be custom ordered.

Adolfo Ruiz is dedicated to designing and handcrafting knitwear. He studied at the Escola d'Arts y Técniques de la Moda in Barcelona, graduating from the Winchester School of Arts. He dedicates himself to this artisan trade because he loves the knitted design, the fabric, the colors, the textures and the touch of the yarns: wool, cotton, silk, cashmere... since since he was little, by family tradition, he always was in contact with machines and spinning. In her workshop she makes knitwear collections and also offers the service of designing and knitting made-to-measure garments for women, men, children and babies.
